Reviews (Staged Reading on May 17, 2026)
I loved this reading, the play, and the actors, who were perfectly cast. The studio above the Pine Plains Library had no air conditioning, yet the dialogue, energy, and flow felt even hotter than the 96-degree heat we sat through.
I was drawn into the characters’ world: their time, place, and struggle to make sense of living through a horrible and confusing war. The way the story approached and resolved these experiences felt unique and beautiful on every level.
The playwright was as passionate as the room was hot: humble, welcoming, and open. I’m really looking forward to seeing The Ghost of Fallujah on stage in its full production.

I enjoyed the recent staged reading of Ghost of Fallujah in Pine Plains. The subject matter was appropriately difficult to take in at times making it a piece with important messages regarding war and soldiers experiences. As we prepare for Memorial Day, the play rang true with the effects that war has on individuals and that their sacrifice must never be overlooked.

The fictitious story of an American soldier who goes AWOL and finds redemption with his unit is portrayed in a captivating, action packed story. The accounts of JP’s (main character) journey with life, war, love, family and all the ghosts we face in our own lives makes for a deep reflection of life.
